I little poem I wrote recently and shared at a gathering...
I'm a dead man walking
A mute man talking
A blind man watching
My brothers die
And I've built our coffins
much too often
And it hurts my heart when
Our mothers cry
But I find me often
participate in
the death of my heart's kin
and I wonder why
Why?
Why do I walk not as I talk?
Why do I don a mask..
Of contemplations minuscule, oft naught?
Of smiles at the crest and haunting beneath.
Why?
I may never know

That what is done is done
Surely there's no return
That if one sow
The same does reap
And that how high is
A function of how deep
That we get to the top
No matter how steep
I BELIEVE
Not it the pen or men
I believe in a life
That sets one apart as a thousand
A knowing, Immeasurable
Vast beyond musings
Unfathomable
A life that calls naught
The needle and the pill
The meter and the bill
The rigid and the viscous
The vanity of human discourse
I BELIEVE
That to your frown, I'm a smile
To your hurt, I'm healing
To your tear, I'm joy and laughter
That when it's rained, There's sunshine after
The GOD LIFE
That's what I believe
That, I can boast in
For it took my ashes And made me beauty
Seized my guilt
Now I have audacity
I know
That in every mess
I have a message
That in ill or grief
In rough or tough
By day or by night
There's grace
For me and for you
There's joy
ever filling, ever true
I believe that His all plus my one
Is all I'll need to forge
To break new grounds
And spring forth all around
Glorying in my Authority which was once a talent
Certified and became skill
Anointed for competence
Perfected in expertise
Now, I have authority.
That life
Gives me such grounds
to say
"I am the solution to every condition"
in fact,
I AM THE REMEDY!!!
